In 2026, Anton returned to Ensibuko for a choreographic residency focused on creating new performance work with six young dancers drawn from Ensibuko’s programmes. The residency provided a dedicated space for the dancers to explore movement, creativity, collaboration, and performance-making while working closely with an experienced choreographer.
Throughout the residency, Anton facilitated a process of experimentation and collective creation, encouraging the young dancers to develop their own movement ideas while introducing new choreographic approaches and techniques. The process supported the dancers in building confidence, strengthening their physical and creative skills, and developing their ability to work as an ensemble.
The residency culminated in the creation of a 25-minute contemporary dance performance developed collaboratively by Anton and the six participating dancers. The work explored themes emerging from the dancers’ experiences and the local environment, bringing together movement, rhythm, storytelling, and physical expression.
The completed performance was premiered in the open spaces of Jinja Central Market, creating an opportunity for the work to be presented outside conventional theatre spaces and directly within the community. The public presentation enabled the dancers to engage with a diverse audience while demonstrating the value of creative practice and youth participation in the arts. The residency strengthened Ensibuko’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young artistic talent and creating platforms for emerging dancers to develop and share their work.
